The course exits the field onto a brief road section - which will be well marshalled - and then it heads over the Wireworks Bridge and along the former railway track for 200m or so. It then forks left up the stone staircase, and keeps going up!
The first half of the ascent is up a steep and rocky path, and then the upper section is up a forestry road. On the far side of the top Offa's Dyke path there will be a turnaround marker.
The route back down dog-legs to the left along the forest road, and then follows the Shorncliff Climbers Path back down to the top of the stone staircase, from where the course retraces itself over the bridge and along the road to a downhill finish in the Fete Field and to huge applause.
